Infrastructuring Numbers: The Education Sustainable Development Goal and the Generative Power of Failing Metrics

On May 11th, the Policy Futures International Webinar series hosted an engaging presentation and discussion on Infrastructuring Numbers: The Education Sustainable Development Goal and the Generative Power of Failing Metrics by Sotiria Grek.

The Professor in European and Global Education Governance and PI for the METRO project considered in her presentation the development of the epistemic infrastructure of the education SDG showing how the making of the SDG4 represents a paradigmatic policy shift characterized by a move from the measurement of schooling to the measurement of learning.

Sotiria’s presentation was complemented by the discussants Antoni Verger, Professor of Sociology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and research fellow at the Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies (ICREA) and Bob Lingard, Professorial Fellow at the Institute for Learning Sciences & Teacher Education at Australian Catholic University and Emeritus Professor, School of Education, University of Queensland.

The event was introduced and chaired by the Policy Futures program director and Associate Professor, Katja Brøgger from Aarhus University.
