Neo-Nationalism, anti-liberal ideas, and a conflicting EU

Keynote: Gregory Jusdanis, Eirikur Bergmann and Florian Bieber

On October 29th, the Policy Futures research program hosted the first webinar event of the Asserting the Nation research project launch.

The Asserting the Nation project, funded by Independent Research Fund Denmark, explores how Neo-nationalism has affected national and European higher education policy based on a comparative study between Denmark, France, UK, and Poland, as well as an examination of recent actions taken by the EU to counter neo-nationalist trends in Europe.

Titled Neo-nationalism, anti-liberal ideas, and a conflicting EU, the first webinar of the project’s launch facilitated discussions on the rise of neo-nationalism in a broad political perspective.

The event featured an introduction by the project’s research leader, Katja Brøgger, followed by intriguing presentations by the keynote speakers: Professor Gregory Jusdanis from the Ohio State University, Professor Eirikur Bergmann from Bifrost University, and Professor Florian Bieber from University of Graz. The event was chaired by Professor Dorota Dakowska from Sciences Po Aix.
