Networks and collaboration

Producing knowledge for evidence-informed policy and practice require the active participation of the actors that are going to use the knowledge resulting from the research conducted at the Danish Clearinghouse for Educational Research. It is however equally important to continuously develop and refine the methods used in conduction systematic reviews and systematic research mappings.

The Danish Clearinghouse for Educational Research is part of an international community of institutions and networks, all working with evidence-based policy and practice.

 

 

International producers of systematic reviews

International organisations producing systematic reviews

The following are among the most important producers of systematic reviews within the field of education:

  • The EPPI-Centre, based at the Institute of Education, UCL, has published reviews on topics such as the effects of grammar teaching, the effectiveness of different ICTs in the teaching and learning of English, and conflict resolution among schoolchildren.
  • The Swedish National Agency for Education (Skolverket), the Swedish government’s administrative body for schools and adult education, has published reviews on, among other things, IT in schools and pupils’ aptitudes in mathematics.
  • The Knowledge Centre for Education (Kunnskapssenter for utdanning) is part of The Research Council of Norway and, as part of its remit, produces systematic reviews within the field of education.
  • What Works Clearinghouse is funded by the United States Department of Education and has published reviews on subjects such as literacy, mathematics teaching in elementary schools and the personal development of schoolchildren.
  • Education Counts in New Zealand is a knowledge center compiling national statistics and research on education, and produces systematic reviews.
  • Canadian Council on Learning, like Education Counts, has a broad portfolio of tasks focusing on knowledge about the Canadian educational sector.
  • Campbell Collaboration is an international network of researchers working with systematic reviews of impact assessment studies within the areas of social welfare, crime and justice, and education.
  • National Foundation for Educational Research is a British research and assessment organisation working with evidence within the field of education in close partnership with representatives from industry, policy and practice. They publish systematic reviews and assess programmes, methods and initiatives within the educational sector.
  • The British Educational Research Association (BERA) is one of the leading national associations for educational researchers in the UK.
  • Best Evidence Encyclopedia was established by the Johns Hopkins University School of Education's Center for Data-Driven Reform in Education (CDDRE) with funding from the Institute of Education Sciences, U.S. Department of Education. The website is intended to provide teachers and researchers with evidence-based information regarding what works (and what does not) in American schools.
