Profile

I am a migration researcher with over 15 years of experience, working across Nepal, South Asia, Singapore, the UK, Hungary, and Denmark.

My career began with a focus on labour migration, particularly the movement of Nepali workers to India. Over time, my research expanded to explore climate-induced migration within South Asia, with case studies in Nepal, India, and Pakistan.

With a background in Political Science, I have investigated issues surrounding citizenship among Nepali Gurkhas living in the UK. Later, I transitioned to social anthropology, examining the mobile nature of patriarchy and its influence on the lives of Nepali men and women. This included further research with Gurkhas in the UK, where I explored themes of gender, transnationalism, and social memory.

My work is grounded in qualitative methodologies, with extensive expertise in digital ethnography and visual anthropology.

Currently, my research focuses on the intersections of money, morality, and education financing in Nepal, delving into the experiences of migrant families.
