Profile

I am a PhD fellow at the Danish School of Education (DPU), Aarhus University. My research is situated at the intersection of history education, museum education, and materiality. Within this field, I am particularly interested in how educational and pedagogical processes can support students’ experiences, historical consciousness, cultural understanding, and Bildung.

My research interests include educational and pedagogical practices within the Open School framework, as well as the development of practice-oriented and collaborative research and development projects. I am particularly interested in partnerships between museums and educational institutions and in how such collaborations can contribute to the development of both educational practice and research. As part of my PhD project, I have collaborated with The Workers Museum, the Royal Danish Collections, Copenhagen Museum, the National Museum of Denmark, and the School Service organisation (Skoletjenesten).

Research

PHD THESIS
I am a PhD fellow in a 4+4 PhD programme with a focus on museum education, historical consciousness, and materiality. My research investigates how lower secondary school students experience historical materiality in educational settings at cultural history museums, and how such encounters can support the development of historical consciousness. The project is design-oriented and draws on collaborative ethnography and creative research methods as its methodological approach. In collaboration with museums and educational organisations, I develop didactical approaches that engage with students’ experiences of historical materiality and support their historical consciousness.

RESEARCH INTERESTS
I am interested in educational and pedagogical processes within the Open School framework and am affiliated with the research network for Open School research. I also work within the field of history education and am particularly interested in how children and young people develop relationships with culture, history, and society across time and space. My research further focuses on the role of materiality in processes of learning and Bildung, as well as the development and application of creative and participatory research methodologies that allow children’s and young people’s perspectives to be included in research and development projects.

Teaching activities

I have taught on the Master's Degree Programme in Material Culture Education, now the Master's Degree Programme in Aesthetics and Education, where I have taught courses on museum education and practice-oriented research methods. In addition, I have served as a course instructor on the course in General Educational Theory.

In my teaching, I am particularly interested in creating connections between theory, practice, and methodological reflection. I aim to support students in engaging critically with educational and pedagogical questions while relating theoretical perspectives to professional and research contexts.

As part of my PhD programme, I contributed to the organisation of the European Educational Research Association's 14th History of Education Doctoral Summer School. Furthermore, I have been involved in planning courses and academic events within the PhD School and have served as a mentor for new 4+4 PhD students.
