CHEF members receive the Sapere Aude research grant
Two members of Centre for Higher Education Futures (CHEF) have received the Sapere Aude research grant: CHEF Co-Director Associate Professor Søren Smedegaard Bengtsen and CHEF Member and Research Programme Director Associate Professor Katja Brøgger. Both researchers are based at Danish School of Education (DPU), Aarhus University.
The Sapere Aude grant is funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark (DFF), which funds reseach acitivites aimed at improving the qualitity and internationalization of Danish research. Sapere Aude research leaders are particularly talented younger researchers, who are capable of leading a group of researchers as part of a larger research project at a high international level.
Katja Brøgger’s project title is ‘Asserting the Nation: Comparative studies on the rise of neo-nationalism in higher education. The case of continental Europe.’ The project explores how neo-nationalism has affected national and European higher education policy and centers on universities. It compares how neo-nationalism has affected higher education policy in Poland, France and Denmark, and examines recent actions taken by the EU to counter neo-nationalist trends in Europe.
Søren S.E. Bengtsen’s project title is ‘Research for impact: Integrating research and societal impact in the humanities PhD’ The project studies how the cohesion between doctoral education and societal impact and value may be increased. Particularly, doctoral education within the humanities strive hard to make this connection overtly clear and meaningful. It is often tacit in what ways research within the humanities, during and after doctoral education, is being conveyed, applied, and integrated within institutions, organizations, and companies outside the university.
