ASEM Conference Lifelong Learning: e-Learning and Workplace Learning

The two-day ASEM conference with special focus on e-learning and workplace learning was opened by the Thai Deputy Prime Minister.

Mr Korbsak Sabhavasu and remarks from the Thai Minister of Education and Thai Minister of Labour. The event brought together 350 scholars, governments officials, university lecturers and educators from concerned organisations in Thailand and 50 representatives and researchers from 20 other ASEM member countries.

The conference provided a forum for sharing research findings, regional experiences and developments in legislative, financial and organizational frameworks for promoting and supporting e-learning and work place learning in different countries in the two regions.

14 presentations at the conference have also addressed trends and issues of the existing infrastructure in diverse socio-cultural and geopolitical contexts, which hinder or facilitate the development of e-learning and workplace learning.

The conference has contributed to strengthening linkages between researchers and Asian policy makers in order to develop future strategies for enhancing the implementation of lifelong learning initiatives with special focus on e-learning and workplace learning.
