Higher Education in South Africa has undergone major changes, especially after 1994 democratic elections. The merger of institutions of higher learning came about after the National Commission on Higher Education (NHCE) submitted its final report in 1996, which argued for the creation of a single, coordinated system of higher education. Since then, institutions of higher education have been confronted with unexpected and far-reaching demands and challenges. One of these challenges was and remains the transformation and post-merger institutional cultures of higher education landscape in South Africa. This PhD study is examining the post-merger institutional culture of universities in South Africa.
Admission to the seminar is free.
Arranged by the Research Programme EPOKE - Education, Policy and Organisation in the Knowledge Economy.
