Higher Education, Anthropology, Politics
International Symposium and Festschrift for Sue Wright.
We would like to invite you to an international symposium and festschrift which will be held at the Danish School of Education (DPU) at Aarhus University, Campus Emdrup, in Copenhagen.
This main aim of this hybrid symposium is to mark three key events:
- A festschrift to honour and celebrate Professor Susan Wright and reflect on her contributions to anthropology, higher education research, and the study of power;
- A meeting to launch the latest special issue of LATISS (International Journal of Learning and Teaching in the Social Sciences), which is dedicated to an exploration of Sue’s contributions to knowledge and legacy in these and other research areas;
- A commemoration and reflection on over 20 years of the innovative and exciting work by DPU colleagues in pioneering educational anthropology as an interdisciplinary sub-field.
The symposium will address a range of topics concerning university reform, the state of crisis (or ‘omnicrisis’) in higher education today, and the contradictions in government policy and politics in the field of education. We also hope it will provide ideas for developing spaces for participatory forms of governance and a more hopeful agenda for enacting the university otherwise.
